Lost Penguins: Brazil Zoo Saves the Day

Penguins migrate annually to Argentine Patagonia and many of them got lost on the way, however, this year there has been an astounding number of penguins being washed up on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro.

Scientists have posed several environmental theories why there are so many penguins washing up on Brazil's shores this year such as overfishing, pollution and global warming.

The good thing is several concerned citizens have stepped up and taken action. Niterói Zoo, the largest in the state of Rio de Janeiro, has taken in many of the surviving penguins. Soon, the Oceanographic Museum in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul will be taking in the survivors to rehabilitate them and prepare them to go back to the wild.
